PROGRAM ARCHITECTURE FOR DOGS  / Designing with children

THE INSPIRATION

Architecture for Dogs is sincere architecture developed by world-class architects and designers, meant to bring a new kind of joy to the relationship between dogs and humans. Founded by Kenya Hara and produced by Imprint Lab, Architecture for Dogs is an online platform and unique product line which explores the role of Architecture in universal praxes, such as the unique joy of having a dog.

Inspired by “Architecture for Dogs” project kids have being invited to take part in a planning and design process to imagine, design & construct a pet house.

AIMS

The aim of the project was to involve children and young people in an original and playful process through reflection and creativity, offering a variety of opportunities to exercise design and architecture with all their senses.

TEAM WORK & COMMUNICATION SKILLS

A a staring point students made a think tank to decide the type of animal they wanted and research on general information of the pet (size,  characteristics, needs, etc) .

THE MANUAL / IKEAS HACKS

Onces they decided about the pet and taking into account the needs of the animal, the next step was to design a CONSTRUCTION MANUAL. We created a manual in the best style IKEA where each team would draw their designs. Encouraging the participants to work as a team contributing with their ideas but above all having fun!

3D PROTOTYPE CREATIONS

The 3D constrution activity is a way to understand how each child sees their sorrounding. And a great opportunity to excercise their creativity and imagination sharing  the prototypes.
